This year the WCO Forum took place under the guiding theme "Building Momentum for an Effective Partnership". More than 200 high-ranking representatives of Customs authorities and many other worldwide operating enterprises and organisations attended this forum from the 6th to the 7th of October in Istanbul.
The partners of the EU-promoted INTEGRITY project used this unique occasion to present the latest version of the IT platform SICIS (Shared Intermodal Container Information System) on the accompanying exhibition.
Besides European and Chinese participants, in particular prospective customers from Middle East, Malaysia and the Philippines displayed interest in SICIS, an open container monitoring platform covering the whole Supply Chain.
Various African visitors expressed their view that SICIS and the possibility to locate the containers origin would offer an attractive approach in particular under fiscal aspects.
American and Australian participants as well used the opportunity to get informed directly by the SICIS project managers, employees of the ISL (Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics), about INTEGRITY and its innovative IT platform and they emphasised the interesting aspects of the seamless and standardised "data pipeline" which is focused on the international routes of transport and goods movements. As being validated in wide-ranging practice tests, it leads to an improvement of visibility and predictability of global container transports.
